Tailored Slipcovers

what...

Tailored slipcovers are fitted to each piece of furniture to look like upholstery with tailored arms, cording, separate cushion covers, and zippered closures for removal for cleaning.

how...

The pattern for the slipcover is made at your home or office by draping, pinning and cutting the fabric you have selected directly on the furniture. The slipcover is then constructed in my studio from the pattern and brought back and put on the furniture.

fabric...

  • 54" wide home fabrics
  • Cottons and linens with some give
  • Light weight upholstery fabrics
  • Avoid - quilting or dress weight fabrics
  • Avoid - heavy weight upholstery fabrics
  • Avoid - fabrics with a rubbery backing

care...

  • Loose dirt can be vacuumed off.
  • Most home fabrics are scotchguarded so most spills will be able to be wiped off without being absorbed.
  • Dry cleaning will give the slipcover the longest life and keep it looking its best.
  • Machine washable fabrics should be washed in COLD water and line dried to avoid shrinkage and replace on the furniture while still a bit damp for the best fit.

good candidates...

  • Sleeper Sofas - a velcro closure is provided underneath the seat cushions to allow access to the bed without removing the slipcover.

bad candidates...

  • Recliners
  • Channel Back Chairs - these can be slipcovered and look very nice, but I suggest you slipcover these only if they are not used frequently. If they are used often, the fabric in the channels will need to be continually retucked into the channels.
  • Most furniture with wood showing other than the legs.
